Meet Our Professor

Jeremy Harrington

Jeremy Harrington started Mixed Marital Arts (MMA), including Jiu-Jitsu, in 2004. He had 12 MMA fights between 2005 and 2011. He became interested after starting a job as a correctional officer, wanting to learn how to protect himself at the prison.

Harrington began his training at St. Anthony’s Gym in Pendleton, Oregon under a blue belt who trained at Straight Blast Gym, which founded by Matt Thornton. Thornton was the first Oregon BJJ Black Belt, which he received from Chris Haueter. Heueter is one of the dirty dozen! — the first 12 Americans to get Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt from Professor Machido. In 2011, Harrington was given his blue belt by Matt Thornton.

In 2011, after receiving his blue belt, Harrington opened his own BJJ/MMA gym in Pendleton, Solid Base Grappling Academy. After a year and a half, he switched affiliation to Impact Jiu-Jitsu and trained under Professor Michael Chapman. He received his Purple Belt from Professor Chapman in 2014. In 2015, Harrington moved to Tri-Cities, WA and handed off his gym to George Martinez and Professor Logan Skinner. Solid Base is now an affiliate of Siri BJJ.

When Harrington moved to Tri-Cities with his wife and three kids, he started training with Professor Armstrong. Armstrong is a Black Belt under Kurt Oslander, a Ralph Gracie Black Belt. March 2016, he received his brown belt from Professor Armstrong. Due to work schedules, he moved academies to train under Professor Gustavo Pires Siri at Siri BJJ. In November 2019, he received his black belt from Professor Gustavo.

Harrington has competed in MMA, Sub League, NAGAs, Five Grappling, Grappling Industries, and IBJJF, and he very rarely doesn’t hit the podium. Most notably, he competed at IBJJF Master Worlds No-Gi in December 2017 in Anaheim, California, where he took the Gold in Master 3 Super Heavyweight division and Bronze in the Master 3 Absolute division.

Since 2016, Harrington has been helping Professor Gustavo teach both kids and adult classes. Professor Gustavo is taking him to the next level in his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey. He feels we are very blessed to have Gustavo here in Tri-Cities. He likes to call him the George St. Pierre of Jiu-Jitsu and he is definitely a BJJ legend. He feels that Professor Gustavo is not only his mentor but his friend and his brother. He is always learning from him on a weekly basis.

Harrington has been in law enforcement for 22 years and Siri BJJ trains a lot of police officers and first responders in the Tri-Cities. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has helped him handle thousands of situations in the prison system in a non-violent manner to restrain inmates. BJJ helps first responders handle high stress situation without injuries. He highly recommends coming down to Siri BJJ where all of our Professors and coaches are very helpful. We will help you build confidence and strength no matter you size or gender. Professor Gustavo and his team will take you to the next level physically, mentally and in your life.
